Because it is difficult for the average driver to understand the difference between wheel alignment and wheel balancing, it is important to have your car checked on a regular basis by a professional at your auto shop. Whether it’s misalignment or a lost tire balance, it will eventually damage your tires, your suspension system, and/or your steering system. Your vehicle will become a safety hazard on the road if you ignore maintaining the correct car alignment and wheel balance!

So what does “out of balance” mean and how is it corrected? Imperfections in the rubber or damage to a tire or rim can throw a wheel "out of balance." That means that one section of the tire or rim is heavier. One wheel at a time is removed from the car and placed on a computerized machine that spins around to determine which side of the wheel is the heaviest. A small lead weight is then attached to the tire to counter-balance any heavy spots until the weight is the same on all sides of the wheel.

If you neglect to maintain proper car alignment or tire balancing, you will start to notice any vehicle issues. Ask your mechanic about the difference between wheel alignment & balancing.

If you’re a vehicle owner, you know that vehicles can require a lot of auto maintenance. One small, but important issue is tire pressure. Many drivers don't understand how tire pressure affects the performance of a vehicle. They may not even think about their tires until they start to notice steering problems and find themselves stranded by the side of the road needing an urgent tire repair.

Each car has a specified inflation pressure that is ideal for the specific car. The proper inflation pressure prevents damage to your wheel rims. If you’re unsure about the exact pressure that is meant for your tires, you will find it listed in your owner's manual or on a sticker on the driver's door jam.

Many drivers don’t know how tire pressure affects the performance of your vehicle until issues start to arise. A tire repair expert will be happy to answer your questions and inspect your tires.

You’re on your way to work, to a wedding or graduation, or other important event, when all of a sudden the “Check Engine” light illuminates on the dash. You don’t want to be late, so you keep on driving. This little warning light can mean several things, from simply a loose gas cap, or a more serious misfiring engine. Do you know the things to check when the check engine light comes on? The important concern is to make sure that long-term damage isn’t taking place in your engine and that you aren't compromising the safety of your vehicle.

Do you know how the “check engine” light works? When the electronic-control system finds a problem it cannot adjust, the vehicle’s computer turns on a yellow warning indicator light and stores a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in its memory. This code helps your mechanic pin point the source of a potential problem. It may simply indicate a malfunctioning sensor, or something more serious, such as low oil pressure. If there is trouble in the engine, it could mean that your vehicle is getting poor fuel economy and polluting the environment more than approved limits.
